Mazda MX-5

Overview
  • Jinba ittai. A Japanese phrase that means horse and rider becoming one. And it's the essence of Mazda MX-5. You'll feel it the moment you take the wheel: you and the car become a single unit joined in the joy of the road. The car responds to your every wish - almost before you think of it - and suddenly driving becomes fun again. From everyday trips around town to long-distance open-top touring, Mazda MX-5 makes the journey an experience to savour. It's Zoom-Zoom driving in an exhilarating new form that promises you lots of fun.

  • Exterior
  • More than just a driving machine, Mazda MX-5 brings you genuine pleasure and pride of ownership. The smoothly rounded, flowing exterior lines restate the fun and friendly appeal of the original in a totally contemporary style, destined to become a new classic. And the interior is another gorgeous restatement of Mazda design aesthetics. The T-shaped instrument panel features a horizontal, high-gloss piano-black band with silver accents, while leather seats have heavy top-stitching to further enhance the impression of quality craftsmanship.

  • Interior
  • The basic concept for the interior design was to create fun, dynamic styling that stirs excitement in the owner and expresses the freedom and performance offered by a lightweight sports car that's free of unnecessary complexity. To realize this concept, the designers conducted digital design studies using three-dimensional modeling software, developed the form of the cabin in accordance with the resulting data and, as with the exterior design, used materials and surface treatments reflecting the latest styling trends.

  • Under the hood
  • as well as the car lightness and a high rigidity, it is a prior for lightweight sports car to improve the steering wheel operation that the weight balanced 50:50, the lowest possible center of gravity and the lowest possible yaw-inertia-moment. The optimal perfect 50:50 front/rear weight distribution (Get on two people) is achieved with the engine moved rearward by 135mm, the fuel tank moved lowered 120mm from its previous position, and the battery moved ahead of the engine diminishes. At the same time, the net change in the center of gravity, height is a worthwhile 18mm, and the yaw-inertia moment is 2% smaller than that of the second-generation MX-5.

  • Safety
  • Active safety is primarily involved with keeping you in control of the vehicle so you can avoid hazards. And Mazda MX-5 features a number of advanced technologies to do this. A 4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (4W-ABS) prevents wheel lockup during hard braking, even on slippery surfaces, allowing you to maintain control and steer around danger. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) works with 4W-ABS to minimize stopping distance by automatically adjusting brake force on the rear wheels according to weight distribution within the car. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) combines 4W-ABS with traction control to manage engine output and brake force on each wheel and minimize the risk of skids or spinning when cornering on slippery surfaces.
